CEBU ? ?Buhay Boksingero? winner and local ?Cinderella Man? Gerpaul Valero of Mandaue City will be featured in the co-main event of the Mandaue City fight card headlined by the non-title contest between Philippine superflyweight champion Marco Singwangcha vs Jessie Tuyor on December 2.
RWS Promotions informed that the 21 year old Valero, who is now ranked number 8 in the GAB Philippine rankings at flyweight, will face Ronnie Sunido of Zamboanga City in the card billed as "Fighters of the Future" at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.
Valero aims to continue his unlikely rise in the Cebu boxing scene. He had a 1 win - 13 loss - 3 draw record with 8 successive losses and was already thinking about quitting the sport before he trained under Brix Flores of the Flores Boxing Gym to prepare himself for the GMA - 7 reality show and boxing tournament Buhay Boksingero. Valero ruled the superflyweight category with three out of the five wins he scored ending by the short route.
Valero?s record improved to 12 wins( 8 KO's), 13 losses and 3 draws with his 11 successive wins capped by a big upset first round knockout win against Marjhun Macahilig of the ALA Gym in his last fight in Balamban, Cebu last September.
