CALGARY via PCSO - After nine years of perfecting her craft and four years of quietly bringing honor to the country, Filipina bodybuilder Luz McClinton finally got her first hero?s welcome as she arrived in Manila Tuesday from Oklahoma, USA.
McClinton was declared the world?s best at the recently concluded World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (WBFF) Southwest U.S. Championship in Oklahoma, USA. She is the WBFF Pro Card Winner and Figure World Champion, beating famous health and fitness expert Ashley Horner.
Luz, the first Filipina who won the Pro Fame Figure World Championship in the USA in 2010 and the only one with a figure bodybuilding title, also won a bronze in Diva Fitness in the same competition. She has surpassed all the country?s achievements in bodybuilding, despite lack of support from the government and private institutions.
For the first time, McClinton received sponsorship from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). Luz thanks PCSO Chairman Margie Juico, the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (SCOOP) and the PSA.
?Praise God at nanalo tayo (that we won). I thank my father, my trainer and my daughter for always being beside me. Salamat kay (Thanks to) Chairman Margie for trusting and supporting my endeavor. Naiiyak ako kasi sa wakas may tumulong din sa akin at may nakapansin din sa ginagawa ko (I am in tears because finally, someone helped me and someone noticed what I?m doing),? said the now certified WBFF Figure Pro.
She is expected to meet President Noynoy Aquino anytime this week before she flies to Berlin, Germany for another competition on November 21. Luz, who also recently won in the Phil-Asian Pacific International Body Building Competition in Cebu City, earning the titles 2012 Cebu Philippines and 2012 UBFFP Ms. Phil- Asia, wants to fulfill another dream ? boxing.
?I would like to try boxing, I think may ibubuga pa ako (I still have the power). I will confirm with my agent if we can sit down with ABAP (Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines),? Luz said.
Pangilinan confirmed from Vancouver, Canada that Luz certainly has Manny Pacquiao?s speed and stamina, Nonito Donaire?s power punch and Ana Julaton?s feminine charm and appeal.
The ?Mom of Steel? joked that if she pushes through with boxing, she will make sure she wears lipstick in the ring.
For the past four years, McClinton has competed here and abroad. Awards she has won include Fame International 2010 Champion, Ironpinoy Figure Champion 2010, Overall National Cebu Champion 2010, Fame Muscle Model Silver 2010, Ms. Boracay 2010, Ms. Physique Philippines 2009, Ms. Universe Figure 2009 and Ms. Fitness Philippines 2006.
