Boxing action here in Cebu shifts south to the municipality of Dalaguete when Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight champion Vergilio ?Maton? Silvano of the Omega Boxing Gym of Mabolo defends his title today against Lester Jun Pronco of Davao City at the Dalaguete Sports Complex.
Both Silvano (17W-2L-1D, 12 KO's) and Pronco (3W-3L, 2 KO's) weighed in at 107 lbs during the official weigh-in held at the GAB-Cebu office Friday. Silvano won his title last July with a fourth round TKO win over Charlie Cabilla at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
The supporting main event will feature another potentially slam-bang affair between flyweights Jason Canoy of the Omega gym and the experienced Jetli Purisima of Gen. Santos City. Canoy beat Ryan Bongcawil by TKO in nine rounds at the J Centre Mall last July. Purisima has lost to quality boxers like Merlito Sabillo, Rommel Asenjo and Wanheng Menayothin of Thailand. Canoy (15W-3L-1D, 10 KO's) weighed 111 lbs while Purisima (15W-12L-2D, 3 KO's) stepped on the scales at 110.5 lbs.
The weigh-in was supervised by Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) of Cebu. The scheduled bout between Eman Labanza and Ernie Sanchez was cancelled due to a training injury suffered by Labanza.
Also set to see action are Jhaleel Payao (113 lbs) vs Mating Kilakil (112 lbs) - 8 rounds, Jack "Golden Boy" Tepora (115 lbs) vs Rommel Banquirigo (116 lbs) - 6 rounds, Charly Pucdol (122 lbs) vs Ryan Quimbo (122 lbs) - 6 rounds, Jordan Catubay (114.5 lbs) vs Juvil Gayhun (114.5 lbs) - 6 rounds, Jay Molijon (112 lbs) vs Abel Gayhun (114 lbs) ? 4 rounds and Kenan Villaflor (113.75 lbs) vs Mark Jhun Tubo (112.5 lbs) - 4 rounds. The card billed as ?Bakbakan sa Dalaguete? will start at 7 pm.
