PINOY PRIDE XVI: MELINDO AND PEREZ MAKE WEIGHT

CEBU CITY ? WBO International flyweight champion and number one contender Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo and Venezuelan challenger Jean Piero Perez both made the division limit of 112 lbs during the official weigh-n held today the SM Cebu City Events Center.

Melindo (27W-0L, 11 KO?s) will be risking his unbeaten recod against the taller Perez (19W-4L-1D, 14 KO?s) , a former WBA interim flyweight titlist. The Venezuelan has been here for a week now and has fully acclimatized to the humid conditions in Cebu.

For the supporting main event, OPBF flyweight champion Rocky ?The Road Warrior? Fuentes weighed in at 111.5 lbs while challenger Myung Ho Lee of Japan tipped the scales at 112 lbs. Fuentes will be making the fifth defense of the regional belt he won in 2009 by majority decision against Masafumi Okubo in Japan.

Another OPBF champ, Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo, who holds the minimumweight title, will face substitute Aroel Romasasa in an eight round non-title contest. Both Sabillo and Romasasa weighed in at 106 lbs.

Arthur ?El Matador? Villanueva will face his first foreign opponent in Thai veteran and former world title challenger Pramuansak Posuwan.?Villanueva weighed 116 ? lbs while Posuwan stepped in at 117 lbs.

Posuwan has fought twice here in Cebu three years ago and names Manny Pacquiao and Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista as his favorite Filipino boxers.

Also set to see action are Welbeth Loberanis (113 lbs) vs Jovel Romasasa (112 lbs) - 6 rounds, Mark Acub (135 lbs) vs Ryan Maano (134 lbs) - 6 rounds, Reymund Tabogon (113 lbs) vs Rowell Garcia (114 lbs) - 6 rounds and Bryan Lobitania (119 lbs) vs Steve Noblefranca (115 lbs) - 4 rounds.?

PINOY PRIDE XVI: Venezuelan Invasion will be on September 22 Saturday at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. Fight time is at 6 PM.?

Appearing as guests during the weigh-in were WBO light flyweight world champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes, AJ ?Bazooka? Banal, Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista, Jason ? El Ni?o? Pagara and Genesis ?Azukal? Servania.
