Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas:- People are still buzzing at the results of the fight Saturday night in this cavernous multi-purpose events center - particularly the upset of the last British hope in boxing, Amir Khan of Bolton by a very non-assuming but undefeated fighter from the land of the great Rocky Balboa (Philadelphia, PA) - Danny Garcia (24-0-0, 15KO).

The super lightweight title unification fight was supposed to follow a script. Amir Khan wins, waits a few months then face the ex-con Floyd Mayweather Jr towards the end of the year or early 2013.

But WBC champion Danny Garcia did not wish to be part of that script. He totally made it useless by a single and very accurate left counter punch that put the Brit to the canvas.

Khan beat the count but it was obvious that he was spent.

The great Brit was no more!

Garcia wins the fight via a TKO and in the process grabs the WBA belt of Khan (26-3-0, 18KO). Khan was down on the canvas in the third and also in the fourth leading referee Kenny Bayless to stop the fight and give Khan a chance to come back and fight again another day.

In the supporting main event, Fernando Guerrero of Salisbury, Maryland (24-10-, 18 KO) beat journeyman Jose Medina of Tilton, New Hampshire (17-11-1, 7KO). Guerrero started fast and he knocked down Medina with a straight left in the first but he could not finish him off. Fight ended with a UD for Guerrero. Scores: 100-89 twice and 99-90.

Phil Lo Greco of Toronto, Canada (24-0-0,13KO) made a very short work with Brandon Hoskins (16-2-1,8KO) of Columbia, MO. Lo Greco stopped Hoskins at 1:26 of round 1.

J. Leon Love of Dearborn Height, MI (12-0-0,7KO) downed Joseph de los Santos of Caguas, Puerto Rico (10-10-3, 4 KO) twice in round 1 and again in round 2 but settled for a UD after 8 rounds. Scores: 80-70 by all three judges.

Jamie Kavanagh of Hollywood (11-0-1, (6KO) kept his record clean via a UD over Paul Velarde of Orange, CA (3-3-1, 1 KO) Scores: 80-72 by all three judges.

Abner Cotto 0f Caguas, Puerto Rico (14-0-0, 5KO) drew the first blood by scoring an 8th round TKO over a verytough hombre from Mexico City, Juan Manuel Montiel n( 7-6-3, 2KO). Montiel was cut in the face in round 3 by a head butt but continued on to give Cotto a run for his money until that fateful stoppage in the last round.

In a fight we missed to photograph but saw on TV at the media room because we had to run to get a bite for dinner, Daguan Arnett of Orlando FL (5-0-0, 3KO) battered Eddie Cordoba of Clearfield, FL (3-3-1, 1KO) from the start of the fight and KO?d him in the second round.
