Late this afternoon, this writer received a call from Russ Heimerich, the spokesman for the California State Department of Consumer Affairs.

Heimerick?s call was in response to my request to provide me with the final official list of the fight officials who will be involved in the Donaire vs. Mathebula title unification fight at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on Saturday, July 7th.

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) falls under the State Department of Consumer Affairs. (DOA) Therefore, I called them directly for the information I needed.

Heimerick in turn called the CSAC to secure the information for me.

Within two hours of my call, I got the information I needed.

Heimerick informed me that the following will be the officials for the fight:

Referee- Pat Russell of San Diego, California

Judges: Jonathan Davis of Buena Park, California
Deon Duarte of South Africa
Steve Morrow of Hollister, California

From what I gathered from other sources, it seems that Davis represents the IBF, Duarte, the WBO and Morrow, the CSAC.

Apparently, the judges were selected from a list of submitted by the WBO and the IBF, the two sanctioning bodies involved in the unification title fight to the CSAC.

The CSAC made the final choice as to who will be the referee and the judges.
