CEBU ? After almost two months of inactivity, professional boxing action returns to the island of Cebu this July 22 with an eleven bout fight card in the municipality of Compostela. Set to fight in the main event is Philippine superflyweight champion Marco Demecillo of the RWS Gym of Cebu. The unbeaten Demecillo (16W-0L-1D, 12KO's) will trade punches with Jethro Pabustan (17W-1L-3D, 5 KO's) in a ten round non-title bout.
Last April 22 in Mactan, Demecillo survived a first round knockdown to dethrone Marvin Mabait by TKO in the third round. Demecillo also fights under the name Marco Singwangcha as a form of homage to his sponsor, Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha. Pabustan fights out of Agoncillo, Batangas and stopped Jestoni Pepito in four rounds in his last outing.
In the supporting main event, Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title holder Adonis "TI Yamagata" Aguelo will go for the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) interim featherweight belt when he squares off against Jerry Nardo (14W-1L, 7 KO's) of Bacolod City.
Aguelo (17W-7L-1D, 10 KO's) trains under the TI Cebu gym of Brix Flores and is sponsored by Japanese boxing patron Akira Sato. Last May 26, Aguelo stopped Gadwin Tubigon in four rounds at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
The reason for this interim title is that reigning Philippine featherweight champion Michael Fare?as is scheduled for a WBA world title challenge in Japan later this month.
Jason Redondo Singwangcha of the RWS Gym and Eman Labanza of the Phil-Aust gym of Mandaue City will fight for a PBF belt for ten rounds. Also set to see action are Gerpaul ?TI Yamagata? Valero vs. Romnick Magos (RWS Gym) 10 rounds, Buhay Boksingero flyweight winner and PBF titlist Rajah Renoel Pael (TI Cebu) vs Louie Arlos in an eight round non-title contest, Ardie 'TI Yamagata' Boyose vs Arnel Caoktoy (6 rounds), TI Yamagata ?Dodong? Masashi of Japan vs. Jonathan Francisco (6 rounds), Kenny Demecillo of the RWS gym vs Alvin Arresgado (4 rounds), Jun Ryan Quimbo vs Bryan Samson (4 rounds), Jayvee Galea vs Roel Sumabong (4 rounds) and RJ Gonzales vs Lloyd Hardeliza (4 rounds).
