LOPEZ'S DAZZLING VICTORY WAS A TRIFECTA

Los Angeles, CA:- Nobody gave Jossesito Lopez an ounce of a chance to beat the very popular Victor Ortiz, the ?Golden Boy? amongst Oscar de la Hoya?s crew of fighters.

Except perhaps the creator of the Team Lopez t-shirt that says "I smell an upset?.

Lopez of Riverside, CA was supposed to be a ?tune-up fight? for the wunderkind from Oxnard who, anticipating victory over Lopez, signed a contract to fight Canelo Alvarez at the MGM on PPV during the huge Mexican holiday on September 15th opposite Bob Arum?s fight card a mere mile away at the UNLV Thomas and Mack Center featuring Cesar Chavez Jr and Sergio Martinez.

But Lopez had some other plans, plans that are typical of a boxer who is being disrespected and relegated to a typical ?plug in the wall?, a substitute so to speak to fill out a gap until the big fight comes along.
.
All through out the fight at the Staples last Saturday night, it seems that Ortiz was indeed playing his role to the letter. He was the bigger fighter and the aggressor so it seems. In fact, looking back at the score cards after the fight, he was indeed ahead in all of them and could have made the big money with Canelo Alvarez had he opted to continue the fight his jaw injury not-with-standing.

But as fate has it, Ortiz decided to quit and the rest is history!

Josesito Lopez? victory created a perfect trifecta.

First, it meant that he has stopped the much hyped Victor Ortiz, a feat not too many others has duplicated. Now Lopez? name will be mentioned alongside that of Marcos Maidana of Argentina when ever people speak of the Ortiz fight record.

Second, it killed a potential show down in big time boxing promotions between Oscar de la Hoya and Bob Arum. More than ever, it created a more intense rivalry because the ridiculous egos of each of the two promoters will not allow one from getting an upper hand over the other.

With Ortiz losing, Arum seems to have the upper hand for September 15th. Surely, De la Hoya will do all he can to even up or even go one up.

Thirdly, the victory made it so easy for the fans to decide which fight to see on September 15th.

Without a big name to fit against Canelo Alvarez, it be a no brainer for the fans to go see the big fight between Chavez and Martinez live or on PPV.

Afterall, the fight is the most anticipated match up next to the Pacquiao-Mayweather tiff.

Unless of course De la Hoya will decide to sabotage Arum?s promotion by putting up a Canelo Alvarez fight against a second tier fighter free on network TV via CBS just to split the Latino audience.

So what else is new, huh?
