Beibut Shumenov (13-1-0, 8KO) of Las Vegas via Kazakhstan kept his WBA Light Heavyweight title via a unanimous decision over old veteran Enrique Ornelas (33-7-0, 21KO) of Guanajuato, Mexico last Saturday night at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Ornelas was a former world Super middle weight world champion.

Shumenov won so decisively that all three judges gave him a unanimous shut-out, 120 to 108 in spite of a long 11 months of in-activity on the ring.

With the win Shumenov improved his winning streak to five victories since losing to Gabriel Campillo back in August 15, 2009.

Reports indicate that Shumenov has been approached by Golden Boy Promotions to fight Bernard Hopkins in New York at the new Barclay?s Center in Brooklyn, New York.
