Pasig City ? WBC world flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro was one of the interested spectators watching the PINOY PRIDE XIV weigh-in at Robinson?s Galleria in Ortigas. The 30 year old Jaro, from Silay City, Negros Occidental, won the WBC crown last March with an earth shaking upset sixth round TKO win over Pongsaklek Wonjongkam of Thailand in Chonburi, Thailand.

This feat also earned Jaro the historic and linear world title belt bestowed by the prestigious Ring magazine. Pongsaklek was ranked number eight by the Ring magazine in their ranking of the top ten best pound for pound boxers in the world prior to his loss to Jaro. The Thai was also recognized as the historically linear champion by the publication widely referred to as the Bible of Boxing.

Jaro proudly displayed his newly-minted Ring belt to his adoring fans as he was mobbed for photo-ops and quotes for his upcoming defense in Japan this July 16 against Japanese Toshiyuki Igarashi (15W-1L-1D, 10 KO?s).

Jaro (34W-10L-5D, 24 KO?s) said that he has started sparring in the gym against his stablemates. He also said that he has already seen films of his challenger?s previous fights.

?I know he will try to run. But I am confident that I can catch him and knock him out.? Jaro said.
The Jaro vs Igarashi bout will be held in Kasukabe, Saitama.
