Filipino congressman and boxing icon, Manny Pacquiao today met the Los Angeles Press Corps for the final time leading to his fight with challenger Tim Bradley at the MGM Grand on June 9th.
Everyone who is part of the ?who-is-who? in the corps was there.
What was most evident for this training camp was the fact that Pacquiao seems to be so relaxed at this stage of his heavy training. His body language and demeanor was far cry from what the press saw before his fight with Juan Marquez last November.
After individually meeting the corps as he went around the ring, Pacquiao had a few rounds hitting the mitts with his trainer, Freddie Roach.
His conditioning coach, Alex Ariza was as his corner too. In fact he initiated today?s training by helping Pacquiao do some stretching exercises.
The young Filipino conditioning coach, Marvin Somodio was there as well but was not involved in the exercises. But he was always next to Roach getting tips on how to go about the routines in the gym.
The Philippine press corps was well represented with GMA?s Chino Trinidad and ABS-Can?s Dyan Castillejo and the Big Three, Nick Giongco of the Bulletin, Abac Cordero of The Phil Star and Roy Luarca of the Inquirer.
Of course big US based news organizations were well represented. We saw the folks from ESPN, HBO, AP, Reuters as well as the LA Times.
Pacquiao winds up training on Saturday, June 2nd and will travel by land to Las Vegas on Monday, June 4th.
