MANDAUE CITY ? For three rounds Adonis ?TI Yamagata? Aguelo and Gadwin Tubigon exchanged hard punches at close quarters. But Aguelo?s edge in the power department unravelled in the fourth round when a stiff right uppercut and a right hook sent Tubigon backing up into the ropes.
Aguelo unleashed hard hooks to the ribs and Tubigon crumbled. Referee Teddy Alivio reached the ten count at the 1:20 mark. Aguelo, who fights out of the TI Cebu Gym of Mandaue City, got the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight belt and a possible regional title fight. Trainer Brix Flores told philboxing that Japanese promoter and boxing patron Akira Sato plans to stage a WBO Oriental title bout for Aguelo sometime in August.
