LAZI, SIQUIJOR -Rajah Renoel Pael and Roger Echavez both weighed in at 111.8 lbs during the official weigh-in held Wednesday noon at the Siquijor Provincial Capitol. They will fight in the ten round main event in Lazi, Siquijor with a Philippine Boxing Federation belt at stake on Thursday May 10.
Pael (7W-0L-1D, 3 KO?s) is the Buhay Boksingero 2011 flyweight division winner. Echavez (7W-7L-1D, 4 KO?s) lost in his attempt last year to win the GAB version of the Philippine inimumweight title to Merlito Sabillo by 7th round TKO.
Set to appear on the undercards are battle scarred Rogen Flores (118.5 lbs) vs Roldan Malinao (116.2 lbs) and Alvin Arresgado (118.2 lbs) vs Ian Panganiban (120.8 lbs).
There will be two exhibition matches between Japanese boxer TI Yamagata Masashi Tada vs Ardie Boyosi of the TI Cebu stable of Mandaue City and Bryan Samson of Siquijor vs Gerry Castroverde of the RWS Gym. Samson was supposed to fight Crispin Salvador who was unable to make the trip because of an injury.
Castroverde was inserted as as sub but was more than seven pounds heavier than Samson thus the GAB decided that their bout will be just an exhibition.
The weigh-in was supervised by Celso Miranda of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) of Cebu.
Meanwhile the GAB received word that the Phil. Lt.flyweight title bout between Jerson Mancio and challenger Charlie Cabilla has been moved from the SRP grounds to the Mandaue City Plaza this May 15.
