It was not just a gathering for a cocktail hors ‘douvres, but one evening where drinks flowed freely and fantastic food served up by Creative Cuisine came in abundance.

For starters, the Paclanders refer to those members of the Mannypacquiao.ph forum, where boxing fans discuss and interact about the latest in boxing.

Aldeguer, after all these years, continues to be a great host, as everybody enjoyed the food—Cajun Seasoned Roast Chicken with creamy gravy, Yankee Pot Roast, Roast Pork (lechon) with mushroom sauce, Buttered Vegetables, Pasta with shrimp and asparagus, Rice Pilaf, California Fruit Tarts-- and booze that followed thereafter. Then there were Marble Cheesecake Brownies that enlivened a night of talk.

There were lovely ladies in attendance—all Paclanders—namely Aliehs (Sheila Galon), Lady_Imaw (Lovemae Lambatan) and Hansilmo’s GlennGirl (Mary Glenn Ente).

Led by Boss Shiva, those who came to hobnob with the boxers were Ironwood_Cebu (Arnie Najera), Ramrod25 (Rex Perez), LL Cool J (Leh Jan), Racer.X.Rocks (Roy Santiago), Llidolyndon (Lyndon Llido), Spideyman (William Lambantan II), Jaxan (Mark Jaxan Catane), Led_2005 (Levi Deresas), Tamblot (Kisna John Jumamil), Ernest 168 (Ernest Tan), Mister Mister Ugly (Ariel De Gracia), Mr. Brownstone (Emmanuel Garganera), the popular Hansilmo (Napoleon Ente), Rainmaker (Jesal Plaza), AEV (everybody’s idol Ala V), R32NicoBoyGTR (Nico Atillo), The Labangal Kid (Glenn A. Valdez) and El Diablo (nobody knows him).

There had been gathering of Paclanders in the last few months, but that evening was truly special. Of course, those who could not make it, and those from other places, you were sorely missed, guys. Hope to see you in our next EB, as they call it.

Will the real 'Komong Bato' show up?

Will a Filipino finally stand up and deliver the country's only world title belt today?

Even without superstar Manny Pacquiao to cheer for him at ringside today, Cebu's Randy 'Komong Bato' Suico is all hyped up to knock the World Boxing Association lightweight title off the head of titleholder Juan 'Baby Bull' Diaz when they trade leathers in a 12-round battle at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
The weigh-in
As the champion, Diaz was allowed to step into the scales first, according to a report at Philboxing.com. He made the weight in his first try. Suico then walked into the gallery sporting a well-pressed blue and white warm-up suit and brand new white athletic shoes. The Filipino stripped down, stepped on the scales, flexed his muscles and made the weight also in his first try.

If victorious today, the city government of Mandaue City has planned a red-carpet welcome for Suico, who was nicknamed 'Komong Bato' (Fists of Stone) by sportsman Tony Aldeguer, who honed Suico from the amatuer ranks to the early part of his pro career.

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano has also readied a big cash incentive for the dynamite-fisted Suico should he successfully become a world champion today.

Pacquiao was at ringside when two other Filipino world title hopefuls--Yukka Gejon and Rodel Mayol--vied for the WBA and WBC 105-lb titles. Both came up short and did not win the crown.

Pacquiao's close associates--Rex 'Wakee' Salud and lawyer Jing Gacal--made the trip and are expected to provide morale support to the Filipino fighter.
My Prediction
I think Suico will stop Diaz on or before the 8th round. The power and physical strength will just prove too much for the reigning champ. Diaz may be a lot quicker, but he has only a snowball's chance in hell to stop a durable Suico.

The Filipino will bring this fight to the deep, deep waters, and finally clinch the world title.

It was useless that the involved German journalist was reminding us what we are and what they think about Italy.

We know what we are and we know what they are. Sport should always unify people and not split them.

Anyway, this is now a good win and we hope we will now live a little more peacefully. At least in Sports.

All the best and thank you again.
