Filipino Juanito Rubillar and Thailand's Wandee Singwangcha meet for the first time today in Bangkok for the official press conference of their 12-round battle on Tuesday for the World Boxing Council interim junior flyweight title at the Mall Shopping Center in Bangkapi, Thailand.
The Mexico-based WBC had ruled that the winner of this fight will move on to challenge WBC regular champion Brian Viloria, if he hurdles his August 10 title defense.
Officials of the Rubillar-Singwangcha showdown are as follows: Referee is Malcolm Bulner, while the three judges are Brad Vocale, Kanaya Takeaki, and Jae Bong Kim.
Rubillar, the 29-year-old southpaw, is tabbed a slight favorite to win over Singwangcha owing to his superior power and the quality of opposition he has faced. He holds a 39-9-7, 17 KO's and has lost only once--to Jorge Arce--in his last 16 fights.
Singwancha, described by Thai press as a fighter "who can't crack an egg," holds a record of 48 wins, 7 losses, 1 draw with a despicable record of 10 knockout wins.
