MANILA--It will be war today when Philippine bantam king Michael Domingo defends his title for the third time against erstwhile champ Johnny Lear in an explosive match-up at the Metropolis Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

Both fighters are in terrific shape, and have vowed to win at all costs to appease their respective management teams in today's 12-round scorcher topbilling the 'Tugon sa Hamon: Box to the Max' fight card.

Domingo, fighting out of the SGG Stable, carved a name last July 2 with a 7th-round stoppage of Alejandro Felix Montiel in the Mano-A-Mano card at the Araneta Coliseum.

Lear, who boxed early on for the ALA Boxing Gym but is now with the Ringside Boxing Gym owned by Charlie Gamboa, hopes to regain the title he had won in 2002.

At yesterday's weigh-in, both Domingo and Lear easily made weight at the Games and Amusements Board office in Makati City.

Domingo came in at a trim 117.5 lbs, while challenger Lear checked in at 117 lbs.

Today's event is being put up by SGG Sports Promotion, Metropolis and Ringside Boxing Club of businessman Charlie Gamboa.

The rest of today's protagonists, and their corresponding weights: Fabio Marfa (109 lbs) vs Alfred Nagal (110 lbs); Rocky Fuentes (113 lbs) vs Ricky Manatad (113 lbs); Federico Catubay (114 lbs) vs Flash Simbajon (115 lbs); Louie Bantigue (114 lbs) vs Jongjong Gagante (115 lbs); Van Oscar Penovaroff (134 lbs) vs Beboy Cudeldiego (133 lbs)
