Mandaue City - ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona weighed in at 128 lbs while Carlos ?El Flaco? Fulgencio of the Dominican Republic stepped on the scales at 125 ? lbs during the official weigh-in held at the J Center Mall for their ten round battle tomorrow at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-lapu City.

WEIGHT ISSUES

Fulgencio was given some allowance on the weight because he just arrived last night. The contracted weight was at 124 lbs. But Sonsona also was over the limit. One of the questions raised during the press conference after the weigh-in was whether 122 is the right weight for Sonsona.

?I can make 122, I am comfortable at this weight.? Sonsona said, ?But, I have to train longer, around three months.?

Promoter Sammy Gello-ani said that they will have to look seriously into this issue, especially that the reigning WBO 122 lb champion is Nonito Donaire.

?We have to look deeper if 122 is his best weight.? Gello-ani said, ?Maybe Sonsona will have to campaign down the road as a featherweight. I will discuss this with his trainers.?

Fulgencio on the other hand said that Abner Mares was the best boxer that he has faced. He also said that he came here well prepared and he came here to win.

Sonsona added that he has no predictions for a knockout but he is confident that he trained properly. ?I have two trainers teaching me and I was fully focused with my training.?

The WBO world youth flyweight and Asia-Pacific titles will be disputed by Froilan 'The Sniper' Saludar and Alejandro 'Terrible? Morales of Mexico in the card's other main event. Saludar weighed 111 lbs while Morales stepped in at the division limit 112 lbs.

Morales is not related to the more famous ?El Terrible? Erik Morales.

?Saludar is good but I will bring the belt back home to Mexico,? he said.

Saludar is nearing a world title shot and feels that he can beat Brian Viloria or the top contender Milan Melindo if he works hard and trains properly.
