SGG SPORTS PROMOTIONS will offer the March 4 double championship fight card at the Cebu Coliseum as a - FREE TO THE PUBLIC - event for the upper and lower box seats as a form of thanksgiving for all the prayers the Cebuanos have given TEAM CASIMERO who arrived home safe and sound after the post-fight riot in Argentina.
This Sunday, the WBO Asia-Pacific interim Jr. Lightweight Championship will be at stake between Weng Haya and former WBO Oriental lightweight champion Jose Ocampo. Haya is best remembered as the unknown Filipino boxer who floored WBO World featherweight champion, Orlando Salido twice last December in Mexico. But Haya eventually lost by TKO in the 8th round.
There is also the Philippine Lightweight Championship between the current champion, Jay Somiano of Catanduanes against Rey Labao of Lilo-an, Leyte.
The undercard has former world title challenger Ciso ?Kid Terrible? Morales vs. Joash Aperecio. Spoiler alert on this one; Aperecio (8W-6L, 6 KO?s) gave prospect Boyce Sultan his first career loss last month. This snapped the five bout losing streak of Apericio after facing the likes of Marco Demecillo, Marvin Tampus and Roli Gasca.
Morales (15W-2L, 8 KO?s) lost by first round knockout to Fernando Montiel two years ago. Morales would beat Eman Labanza on points in Leyte and wind up with a technical draw against Gregorio Torres in Mexico.
Other undercard match-ups include Virgilio Silvano of Omega Gym vs. Roilo Golez ( who once fought Sammy Gutierez and Edgar Sosa for the WBC Silver and International Flyweight Belt), Jessie Cris Rosales ( Buhay Boksingero Lightweight Champion ) vs. Elmer Pulbe of Pagadian City, Rennel Flechero vs Marlo Pasigna, Jasper Buhat vs. Jovan Mu?oz and ABAP National Gold Medalist Jack Tepora makes his debut as a professional against Walter Semblante of Mandaue City.
Tepora is one of the recipients of a citation during the Cebu Sportswriters Awards this Saturday for his exploits as an amateur.
Tickets will be required only for the ringside seats.
Boxing will start at exactly 5:30 in the afternoon and is presented by SGG Sports Promotions, Sampson Boxing LLC and GMA ? 7 television network.
