Cebu City ? The boxers who will represent the Philippines had a public workout at the Event Center of SM Cebu Friday evening to promote the first big boxing event for 2012 - PINOY PRIDE XI: PHILIPPINES vs. THE WORLD.

WBO Intercontinental flyweight champion Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo (25W-0L, 9 KO?s) will headline the blockbuster Pinoy Pride XI fight card and he will defend his WBO Intercontinental flyweight title against Mexican Juan ?Panterita? Esquer (27W-9L-2D, 21 KO?s).

A highly enthusiastic crowd gathered to watch Melindo, who together with WBO Oriental featherweight champion Lorenzo ?Thunderbolt? Villanueva (21W-0L-1NC, 20 KO?s), OPBF minimumweight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo (16W-0L, 7 KO?s), Mhar Jhun Macahilig (13W-1L, 7 KO?s) and Joseph Von Minoza (12W-2L, 5 KO?s) demonstrated segments of their training regimen.

The five boxers skipped rope, shadow boxed, hit the punch mitts with their trainers, performed step ladder exercises and abdominal muscle strengthening with the medicine ball.
Fans also got to win free tickets and ALA Gym ?PINOY PRIDE? calendars during the Q and A portion. The boxers were mobbed for autographs and posed for photos.

Villanueva?s record and KO percentage never fails to impress the fans. His knockout prowess will be tested when he fights a Mexican boxer for the first time, Diego ?Tyson? Ledesma (18-4-2, 12 KO?s). Villanueva is ranked number five in the WBO world rankings.

Macahilig will fight Thailand?s Kaichon Sor Vorapin (25-10, 9 KO?s) in an eight round contest. Sabillo will face Indonesian Sofyan ?The Cobra? Effendi (11-11-2, 9 KO?s) in an 8 round non-title match. This will be the unbeaten Sabillo?s debut in Cebu and his first outing outside of Bacolod City. Minoza will be matched up against Yoo Shin Kim (8-2, 6 KO?s) of South Korea in another 8 rounder.

PINOY PRIDE XI will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel this January 28.
