CANOGA PARK, CA -- One of the most challenging issues to handle is wishing to see two great title fights that occur almost simultaneously from two different parts of the world.
Tonight, that was my dilemma.
But through the magic of technology, again I was able to see two fights going on at the same time from two ends of the world on a split 60 inch HDTV.
And, it was fun.
Just about the only thing I missed was the ambiance, the crowd noise and the rancid smell that usually is common when huge crowds gather together in an enclosed arena.
But nothing beats watching fight from the comfort of a massaging heated chair, with free flowing beer and lots of food prepared by the ever permissive wife.
I was able to watch the whole televised fights from Pasig and Washington, DC.
But the best part was the fact that I was able to tweet the results of each round particularly the fights from Pasig that involved Mexicans fighters, Martin Honorio and Giovanni Segura.
My Mexican friends were of course thrilled to get the round by round results in real time and the direct messages and e-mails I got validated that.
Truly, it was a pleasure to share particularly with my Mexican brothers that follow 12asaltos.com in Mexico.
By now, everyone knows that Brian Viloria kept his title via a scintillating stoppage of the once fearsome Giovanni Segura.
Segura was an awesome fighter as a light flyweight and his record says it clearly. But at 112 lbs., I truly believe he bit more than he can chew.
Segura went up in weight to challenge the Filipino Hawaiian WBO world flyweight champion, Brian Viloria.
Almost everyone doubted Viloria can pull it through indicating that Segura was a power puncher with a high KO record to boot.
And, Viloria they say has questionable staying power. Read: He run out of gas and lost to Carlos Tamara.
But tonight Viloria was like the pineapple express.
He run over Segura like a brake-less train winning with his vaunted left counter hook, a punch that caused Segura?s right temple and orbital area to swell into an ugly ball.
It was the same injury that finally convinced the referee to step in and stop the fight deciding correctly that at that point and time Segura had no hope to win and he might as well save him from further injuries.
Abac Cordero of PhilStar tweeted that the swelling was as huge. ?It was bigger than his nose.?
With the fight being stopped on a timely manner, Segura?s injury should not be a problem. All it may need is for the hematoma to be drained followed by some pain killers and prophylactic antibiotics and Segura will be good to go again in 6 to 8 weeks.
Incidentally, I got some disturbing news from the Ynares Stadium.
Apparently, there was no media room and there was no wi-fi access?
What? Is that for real?
I thought that place is one of the better known places for big international events?
Perhaps the promoters and the venue operators do not think much about the media. If that is the case, they are dead wrong and hopefully next time around things will be better.
Hey fellows, you need to support the media and get your place up to international standards.
That is the only one to allow our country to gain points internationally.

On the other side of the world, at Washington DC as huge upset occurred.
Lamont Peterson took it to the well known double belt world champion, Amir Khan and beat him via an unpopular split decision.
People said that it was a hometown decision and the points taken away from Khan were not fair.
Be that as it may, from this writer?s perspective, Khan lost because he did not do enough.
He lost not because of those two points taken away but because he did not decisively beat Lamont Peterson as everyone expected.
Had he score enough points early on, those two points would not have mattered.
But such is the fight game. You win one and you lose one. Tonight was not Khan?s night no matter if they fought at Bolton or Karachi. The fight could have gone either way.
But tonight Lamont Peterson was the better man.
And he won.
