Maasin City - Albert Pagara of the ALA gym scored a third round knockout over a game Henry Acha of Bukidnon in the main event of a fight card held Monday at the Maasin City Gym. Pagara started at a fast pace and scored with straight punches in the opening round. Acha managed to close the distance and landed hooks in the second. The two boxers continued to trade hard shots in the third but Acha was hit with a quick right and fell on all fours. Referee Ben Necessario reached the count of ten at the 2:59 mark.

Pagara now has 9 wins without a loss, 7 by KO. Acha drops to 5W-17L-1D, 1 KO.

This was the third time this year that the superflyweight prospect known as ?Prince? Albert headlined the professional card series entitled ?Maasin Pride?. Pagara traces his roots to this city in Southern Leyte and he is expected to be their major boxing staple and crowd drawer in future boxing promotions.

Jun ?Flash? Entor ring antics had the crowd roaring with laughter in his four round bout against Crispin Parba. Entor also went on to win by majority decision. The scores ? 38-38 and two judges had it 40-36 for Entor.

Rey Melligen also remained unbeaten as he outpointed Ruben Santillanosa in an eight rounder. Melligen had trouble with Santillanosa?s awkward style early in the fight. Melligen (9W-0L, 5 KO?s) eventually knocked Santillanosa down in the seventh round and in the final round a point was deducted from Santillanosa (9W-27L-2D, 5 KO?s) for a headbutt that caused a cut on Melligen?s left eyelid.

The three judges? scorecards were unanimous for Melligen ? 78-72.
Reymond Tabugon beat Marben Layos by unanimous decision in another four round bout. The scores for all three judges 40-36.

Amateur boxers from the Phil-Aust gym of Mandaue City and Maasin City scored two wins apiece in their head to head match-up

The bouts were offered free to the public courtesy of the Maasin city local government lead by Mayor Maloney Samaco. GAB ? Cebu officials Rolando Mendoza and Celso Miranda supervised the pro bouts.
