Mercito Gesta.
La Vegas, NV.:- It took a while but finally, the much anticipated fight card at the Mandalay Bay Resort Casino tomorrow night which was designed to serve as an appetizer for the really big one on Saturday, has been announced.
The fight card will showcase 3 Filipino pugs against opponents handpicked by Top Rank to give them a good run for their money.
Headlining the fight card is a 10 round NABF Super featherweight title fight between New York?s Emmanuel Lucero (26-7-2, 14KO) against local boy, Diego Magdaleno (20-0-0, 7KO).
The co-main event will feature Mercito Gesta (23-0-1,12KO) of the Philippines against Ricardo Dominguez ( 34-6-2, 21KO) of Culiacan, Mexico.
Dominguez will serve as a true measuring stick for Gesta who up until now has not really been matched against fighters of note. A win by Gesta will surely position him to bigger money making fights particularly now that Top Rank has taken hold of his promotional interests.
Jesse Magdaleno (6-0-0,4KO) an undefeated super bantamweight from Las Vegas will tangle with Houston?s Gil Garcia (5-1-0, 1KO)
Saul Rodriguez ( 1-0-0,1KO) of Los Angeles aims to keep his record clean against Rocco Espinosa (1-1-0,0KO) of Las Vegas.
Gabino Saenz ( 5-0-0,5KO) of Los Angeles will try to extend his KO record against Sergio Cristobal ( 3-2-0-2KO) of Chicago, Illinois.
Canadian Mike Zewski ( 11-0-0,7KO) hopes to continue his American winning streak against Gundrick King ( 16-6-0,11KO) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Filipino Allan Tanada (10-1-2, 5KO) will make his US debut against Newhall, CA,?s Juan Ruiz (23-7-0, 7KO) Ruiz with his extensive record will assure a tough fight for the young Tanada. A victory for the Pinoy will assure him more fights in the US.
Matt Korobov (16-0-0,9KO) will open the fight card at 5PM against Latif Mundy (10-3- 0, 1KO) of Philadelphia, PA.
Juan Miguel Elorde (10-0-0, 4KO), a grand son of the great Flash Elorde will try to keep the Elorde name up front in the boxing circles with a 4 or 6 round fight against Jerry Guevara (6-0-0, 5KO) of Brownsville, TX.
Unfortunately, the fight will be a swing bout meaning he gets up the ring at any given point during the fight card to plug TV time in case there is an early KO in the televised fight.
