Solar Sports, the Philippines' leading sports channel, will telecast live the May 20 Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super-featherweight clash between Filipino Jimrex Jaca and Japan's Nobuhito Honmo.

The two fighters will duke it out for the vacant OPBF 130-lb title at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The title was recently vacated by Filipino Randy Suico, who has moved up in weight to vie for the OPBF lightweight title.

Topnotch boxing manager Rex 'Wakee' Salud, who handles Jaca's career, said in an interview over the weekend that Solar has thrown its support on the event, noting that even if the fight is not for the world crown, the television outfit remains positive on viewers' acceptability.

Jaca, together with trainers Buboy Fernandez and Robert Bubuli, is set to fly to Tokyo on Wednesday for the bout. Salud will depart the day after.

The Sibulan, Negros Oriental-bred Jaca (25-1-1, 12 KO's) shoots for his second OPBF title after briefly ruling as the OPBF superbantam champ in 2004. Weight problems forced Jaca to surrender the crown to Japanese Yasuo Kunimi on May 30, 2004, losing on a seventh-round knockout.

"Jaca has done everything in the gym. He's in tremendous shape for the fight. Now, his fate is up to the Lord whether he wins the title against such a talented Japanese in Honmo," informed Buboy Fernandez in an interview.

Honmo, nicknamed 'Powerful Honmo', is ranked WBC no. 9 and boasts of a 27-4-2, 5 KO's record. He is managed by Kadoebi Jewel, who also handles WBC minimumweight kingpin Eagle Kyowa.
