Bacolod City ? Former WBO Oriental minimumweight champion Rommel Asenjo weighed in at 107 lbs while Arnel Tadena stepped in at 109 lbs during the official weigh-in held Thursday for the ALA-Cobra ?Tunay na Lakas? boxing promotion on Friday October 7.
This fight card is held on the eve of the Pinoy Pride IX world title fight between Donnie Nietes and WBO Lt. flyweight champion Ramon ?Principe? Garcia Hirales.
Asenjo lost in his bid to win a WBO world title when he was stopped in the third round by Raul Garcia, Ramon?s brother, last April in Mexico. Raul is also in town to support his brother. Asenjo was one of Nietes? sparring partners during the preparations for his title challenge.
Tadena is an experienced veteran having fought the likes of Denver Cuello and Milan Melindo.
Also set to see action are Gil Melligen (132 lbs) of Bacolod City vs Rufino Mante (130 lbs), Wilbeth Loberanis (112 lbs) vs Roger Echavez (112 lbs), Rey Melligen(136 lbs) of Bacolod City vs Tata Ramuga (134 lbs), Rocky Bacor (109 lbs) vs Jonathan Ricablanca (109), John Rey Melligen (119 lbs) vs Toto Abing (118 lbs), and Lendell Radoc vs Jacklord Cepeda (106 lbs).
