
ALL SET FOR ?DUGONG KAMPEON? AT THE HOOPS DOME

Cebu City - Michael Fare?as (32W-3L-3D, 26 KOs) of the Pe?alosa stable tipped the scales at the division limit of 126 lbs while defending champion Edgar Gabejan (22W-25L-4D, 6 KO's) of the Aljoe Jaro Stable had to sweat for an hour and make two trips to the scales before he made the stipulated weight for their Philippine featherweight championship showdown this Saturday October 1 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-lapu City.
Dodie Boy Pe?alosa, Jr weighed 122 lbs while opponent Donriel Marcos stepped in at 123 lbs. They are scheduled to fight for eight rounds. Pe?alosa will try to extend his unbeaten and perfect knockout streak in his seventh pro fight.
While preparing for this bout, Dodie,Jr sparred twice with the returning former WBO superflyweight champion Marvin Sonsona. ?Marvelous? Marvin is set for his ring comeback this October 15, also at the Hoops Dome.
Younger brother Dave Pe?alosa (117 lbs) will make his four round professional debut as a bantamweight against John Edu Torbiso (118.5 lbs). Another member of the Sonsona clan, Eden Sonsona (122.25 lbs) will engage Godwin Tubigon (120.5 lbs) in a ten rounder.
Other boxers set to see action are Virgilio Silvano (109) vs Lionel Legada (108.5 lbs) ? 8 rounds, Anthony Sabalde (119 lbs) vs Jimmy Paypa (119 lbs) - 8 rounds, Sonny Katiangdagho (131 lbs) vs Rodel Wenceslao (128.5 lbs) - 6 rounds, Jhaleel Payao (112.5 lbs) vs Jaime Bermiso (111 lbs) - 4 rounds, Raymund Empic (115 lbs) vs Sherwin Caday (113 lbs) - 4 rounds and Jerome Casas (116 lbs) vs Romel Acruz (115 lbs) - 4 rounds.
This will be the fourth edition of the ?Dugong Kampeon? fight series. Fights on Saturday start at 6 pm. GMA Television will broadcast the fight on a delayed basis. The weigh-in and pre-fight physical examination was held at the GAB-Cebu office and supervised by Glen Agena and Celso Miranda.
