The Hoops Dome of Lapulapu City, Cebu will be the site of the more intriguing ring comebacks in recent Philippine boxing history. Twenty one year old former world champions are not supposed to stay away from the ring and subsequently stage a return but Marvin Sonsona will do just that.

The southpaw from Gen. Santos City will face Carlos Jacobo of Mexico this October 15 in a fight that could very well determine his future. Sonsona (14W-1L-1D, 12 KO?s) has not fought since February 27, 2010, when he was stopped in four rounds by Wilfredo Vasquez,Jr in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Sonsona could have been our youngest two-division champion, but reality and history had other plans.

Now, the former WBO superflyweight champion will have to prove himself all over again against Jacobo (14W-3L-1D, 12 KO?s), the reigning WBC Fecombox superbantamweight titlist. This will be Jacobo?s first fight outside Mexico.

This fight is presented by Sammy Gello-ani?s SGG Promotions and Sampson Boxing and will be shown on AKTV here in the Philippines. Complete card will be announced later.
