Mandaue City ? Francisco Rosas, Rosbel Montoya and Gerson Guerrero made an appearance at the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City Wednesday afternoon to promote their September 10 showdown against the ALA Gym fighters at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Up and coming boxers from the said gym also had a sparring session before the Mexican fighters were introduced to the mall crowd that gathered to witness the promotional event. The trio posed for pictures with the fans who are also expected to flock to the venue this Saturday.
ALA Promotions patriarch Antonio Aldeguer was on hand and had a brief chat with this writer regarding one of the match-ups in the Pinoy Pride 8 involving the talented but raw Genesis 'Azukal' Servania against Mexican veteran Gerson 'El Nene' Guerrero.
The question on the minds of boxing pundits here in Cebu is whether Servania will be way over his head on fight night.
?If he beats Genesis, it will be because of his experience. I could have given Genesis an Indonesian for his first foreign opponent but the selling point in this fight is Philippines vs Mexico. If Genesis is really good, he will win, if not, we'll bring Guerrero back, possibly against AJ Banal. Roli Gasca has an OPBF defense this November so we could not schedule him for this card.? Aldeguer said.
?We are pushing our pushing our boxers because if they can't perform well against tough opponents, why bother?? Aldeguer added.
Headlining this card is the WBO Intercontinental flyweight battle between Milan 'Metodico' Melindo vs Francisco 'Chiquita' Rosas. Jason 'El Nino' Pagara will defend his WBO Youth Asia-Pacific jr.welterwight belt against Rosbel 'El Lobito' Montoya.
The final presscon will be at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel this Thursday noon and the wiegh-in will be on Friday.
