Las Vegas, NV: Fresh from thrashing the cocky Zab Judah last Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Amir Khan made a very interesting comment when asked bout his immediate plans.
Khan, who now holds both the WBA and IBF light welterweight titles to his name did not state the old clich? ?I am going to Disneyland? many athletes Americans particularly, often state on TV after a winning performance or a world class achievement.
Khan indicated that aside from taking a well deserved R and R to be with his immediate family, teammates and supporters, he will soon be going to Mecca for a pilgrimage, a practice many devout Muslims do.
When Amir Khan comes back from that trip, he will forever be known as Hadji Amir Khan. ?Hadji? is an honorary title given to Muslims who completes a pilgrimage to Mecca, the center for religion for Muslims worldwide.
So soon, Amir Khan would be introduced at the start of all his future fights by Michael Buffer as ?Hadji Amir Khan,? much like he introduces Manny Pacquiao as the fighting ?Congressman Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao!?
