Manny is NOT the king

Manny Pacquiao is not the king. He may rule inside the ring, but the world?s number one pound-for-pound boxer turns into a servant at home. Manny Pacquiao treats his wife and children like royalty. Maria Geraldine ?Jinkee? Pacquiao takes care of the children everyday but the People?s Champ is the ?spoiler.? He spent more than 1 million pesos during one of his daughter?s first birthday. The four children, Jemuel, Michael, Princess or Mary Divine Grace and Queen Elizabeth or Queenie are Pacquiao?s bosses. With them around, the champion fighter is hands-down and all-out.

The boxing icon does not mind a bit. After all, his family is the top reason why he works really hard. The family lives very comfortably with several big houses in and out of the country, lavish vacations, and all the luxury they can afford. But they spend their money the most on the children?s schooling. He and Jinkee put a premium on education, sending their kids to a good international school. If you ask Pacquiao, he enjoys fatherhood so much that he would want to have more children. He is a staunch opponent of the controversial Reproductive Health Bill, saying that God commanded people to ?go to the world and multiply.?

?I believe nowhere in the Bible does it say that we should limit the number of our kids. Hindi sinabi [ng Diyos] na just have 2 or 3 kids. Magpakarami kayo,? Pacquiao said in earlier interviews.

He is also thankful that Tatay Rosalio and Nanay Dionesia, who were very poor then, did not practice family planning, pointing out that he would not have been born if they did.

Pacquiao?s mother is also very religious. She singlehandedly raised her children and taught them to be strong in their faith because she believes that God listens to prayers and blesses all those who work hard.

This faith is not only seen in Manny?s stand on the RH Bill. Every time he goes into the ring, he does his best for the God who created him and gave him strength. His Nike print advertisement shows his prayerful side, as he is featured in a kneeling position in the corner of the ring, back to the camera, arms outstretched to reflect a cross. He always offers his glory to God and considers prayer as his strongest weapon. Every time a fight begins, Manny is seen making the sign of the cross. And at the end of the game, win or lose, he thanks God in humble prayer.

Behind all his wealth and prestige, Manny Pacquiao?s strength lies in his faith. A faith that his mother taught him and that he teaches his children, too. That is why he wants them to follow all the laws of God, including going forth and multiplying.

Being true to this faith, the congressional representative of Sarangani said that couples should control their sexual urges if they plan to have smaller families. Artificial contraceptives are a no-no, even as his wife Jinkee admitted that she took birth control pills after giving birth to Queenie. Pacquiao said that Jinkee stopped taking pills and is now anti-RH bill like him.

Pacquiao respects the opinion of the other lawmakers and of President Noynoy Aquino who supports the RH bill. But for the boxing hero, being a father is such a joy that he would not stop people from having children. This fathers? day, Pacquiao is one of the happiest as he celebrates with the four youngsters. Let?s give him that. And because he can afford it, let?s allow him to have as many children as he wants. After all, he loves being the servant of the little kings and queens of his life. #
