Cebu City ? Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista, Jason Pagara and Edrin ?The Sting? Dapudong were on stage Friday evening at the SM Cebu Events Center to promote the highly anticipated June 11 PINOY PRIDE 6 fight card at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
They gave fans a glimpse of a boxer?s daily workout needed to get into fighting shape. Dapudong and Pagara opened the festivities with stretching exercises, skipping rope and demonstrated their power by hitting the punch mitts. Bautista followed a few minutes later and performed his workout routine. The mall crowd watched in awe as Bautista hit the mitts with trainer Edmund Villamor.
Bautista (30W-2L, 23 KO?s) will have his grudge rematch against Heriberto Ruiz (46W-10L-2D, 28 KO?s) of Mexico in a twelve round battle for the IBF International featherweight title. Bautista spoke to the fans after his workout and invited them to watch the fight. ? I am not overconfident of winning because the fight is held in Cebu. I know Ruiz is a veteran and I expect a difficult fight. But I will try my best and I hope the fans will watch and support and pray for the Filipino boxers.? Bautista said.
Pagara (26W-1K, 15 KO?s) will be tested against a tough Latino boxer for the first time when he trades punches with Juan Carlos Gallegos (16W-4L, 10 KO?s) of Mexico. Dapudong (21W-3L, 12 KO?s), a former WBC Silver flyweight titlist, will face a young but unbeaten Benja ? Rhinoceros? Loemoli (11W-0L, 7 KO?s) of Indonesia. The boxers posed with photos with the fans after their workout.
Fans got to win free tickets during the Q and A session with emcee and ring announcer John Magat. Fight time on June 11 will be at 6 PM.
