Bogo City, Cebu ? Rodel Wenceslao of the Phil-Aust Gym of Mandaue City outpointed Joel Soterol of the RWS Stable of Cebu in a well fought four round junior lightweight match that served as the final bout in last Sunday?s ?Buhay Boksingero? fight card held at the Don Celestino Martinez Sports and Cultural Complex.

An accidental head butt inflicted a cut on Wenceslao?s left eyelid which cost Soterol a point. The momentum shifted back and forth the rest of the way. The scorecards read 39-36, 38-37 and 38-37 for Wenceslao.

In another junior lightweight battle, Honey Boy Vidad of Siquijor won by TKO in the third round over Anecito Dondon Gesta of the Gesta gym. Vidad was the aggressor but Gesta adjusted well in the second. But a right hand lead suddenly dropped the southpaw Gesta.

Gesta got up and fought back despite being wobbly. In the third, another solid right sent Gesta down and the referee waived off the fight at the 2:05 mark.

Jessie Cris Rosales of the SGG Gym and Bobbie Sentillas of T.I. Cebu fought to a four round split draw. It was a tactical battle of feints and counters between two promising junior featherweights. The scores ? 39-37 Rosales, 39-37 Sentillas and 38-38.

Memar Dula of the Sta. Cruz gym sent Lucky Lee Galano of Leyte down twice in the opening round of their junior featherweight contest. The referee stopped the fight at 1:23.

Erwin Yamo of the Phil-Aust gym and Jolito Catubay of the RWS Stable fought to a bruising majority draw in their jr.bantamweight bout. The scorecards read 39-37 Catubay and two judges had it 38-38. Jerpaul Valero of the T.I. Cebu stable won by four round unanimous decision over Bernard Salisinas of Matalom, Leyte in another jr.bantamweight bout. All three judges scored it 39-37. Flyweight Rommel Banquirego of the RWS Stable scored a first round knockout win over Reymund Fermin of the Phil-Aust gym courtesy of a vicious liver punch. Official time- 1:03.

In what would be awarded the best fight of the evening, flywieghts Gilbert Magos of the RWS Gym and Jessie Dignos of the Donaire stable engaged in a rough, free swinging four round jr.flyweight brawl. Dignos opened a cut on Magos? right eyelid in the opening round with a legal punch and this ignited a series of fierce exchanges. The scorecards read 39-37 for Dignos and two judges gave it to Magos 38-37.

There were two amateur bouts with Junar Alburo and Jay Molejon of Bogo winding up the winners. The knockout winners of the pro bouts and the best fight of the evening were given additional cash incentives.

Serving as round card girls were candidates of the City of Bogo Festival Queen pageant. The bouts were sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board of Cebu and supervised by Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza. This was the third leg of the Boxing reality television series and tournament ?Buhay Boksingero? which is shown weekly on GMA TV.

Philboxing would like to thank the local government of Bogo for their hospitality.
