SUGAR 'SHAME' MOSLEY

Las Vegas, NV:- Every single one of the almost 17,000 people that came to this city to watch the Pacquiao-Mosley fight at the MGM Grand last Saturday came expecting to see a fight. That includes two of my nephews, Ariel and Joe Rayman who flew in from Washington DC and New York respectively as guests of the MGM.

Sadly however, just like everybody else, they could just as well stayed home and watch ?Dancing with the Stars? on TV comfortably at their homes.

Sugar Shane Mosley did not come to fight. He just came to collect his retirement money.

No offense meant, but it would have been far better if he just asked Bob Arum to FEDEX the check to him.

Mosley elected to fool the boxing world and pretended that he is still capable of putting up a fight. In reality, he is washed-up. He was not even the Mosley that fought Sergio Mora. At least with Mora, he stood his ground.

Sadly, Mosley is sugar no more.

For a guy who is a future Hall of Famer and has given the boxing world lots to cheer about in the past, his performance or rather his non-performance can be forgiven. But he should at least simulate a fight instead of mimicking Lance Armstrong and displeasing the crowd.

To his credit, early on he tried but after being dropped in the third round by the very sharp Pacquiao, the fight became a bore. The best that Mosley did was established a precedent. No crowd ever booed a Pacquiao opponent before until Mosley came along.

You know what was funny? At the post fight presscon, he was asked if he heard the boos. ?I was so focused on the fight, I did not hear the boos,? he said.

Focused? He must be focused on running away instead of fighting!

Perhaps it could have been far better if Pacquiao did not knock him down. Maybe, just maybe Mosley would then would have the courage to exchange. That would have prevented or at the very least minimized the booing from the disappointed crowd.

As Mosley said at the post fight presscon, he wasn?t about to take any risk.

What? Risk from being knocked out, I guess.

All Mosley wanted to do was to keep his legacy of not being knocked-out in his career and in the process collect money. All the stuff he said before the fight was nothing but air.

Mosley simply run and collected his retirement money. What a bore!

Mosley?s non-performance was an insult to the crowd that paid tons of money to see a fight. Sadly, it gave a black eye (pun intended) to the sport. Most importantly, he gave the folks who run MMA events more ammo to do better than boxing.

What a ?Shane.?

Make that ?shame!?
