"Bon Jovi" Canillas wins PABA title in Thailand

Larry ?Bon Jovi? Canillas of the ALA Gym of Cebu won the Pan Asian Boxing Association (PABA) superbantamweight title by stopping Sukkasem Kietyongyuth in the 9th round in a fight held Friday in Rachaburi, Thailand.
Canillas, from Toledo City, Cebu, knocked the Thai defending champion down in the 1st and 4th rounds and the referee stopped the fight in the ninth.Sukkasem (6W-1L, 4 KO's)suffered his first career loss. The Thai stopped Canillas' stablemate, Mark Gil Melligen, last November in two rounds.
Canillas (15W-3L, 13 KO?s) not only bounced back from a disappointing points loss to Ramie Laput last year but has also joined the ranks of the ALA gym?s gritty road warriors Donnie Nietes, Roli Gasca and Rocky Fuentes.
