Bacolod City ? Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes sent a warning to all the 108 lb champions out there with a stunning first round knockout win over Armando Vasquez of Mexico. Nietes had shaky moments as he missed the first few punches that he threw as Vasquez stunned him with a left.
But Nietes cornered Vasquez and landed a right hook that sent the Mexican crashing down to the canvas. Referee Bruce McTavish started the ten count, Vasquez tried to get up but could not even get on his feet. Official time ? 2:26 of the opening round
The WBO minimumweight champion from Murcia, Negros Occidental is set to go for a second world title and is eying the winner of the WBO interim lt.flyweight title bout between Jesus Geles and Ramon Garcia Hirales.
