CUELLO BRACES FOR CRUCIAL BOUT

Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello Singwangcha is seventeen days away from a crucial must-win fight against Samat Chaiyong of Thailand. Promoter Aljoe Jaro is counting on World Boxing Council secretary general Mauricio Sulaiman's reassurance that his boxer will get a crack at the WBC 105 lb division world title.

Cuello, a six year pro and the WBC International minimumweight titlist, came close to a shot at a the title last year but suffered a DQ loss when he already had Juan Hernandez down in the third in a fight held in Mexico.

Cuello (25W-4L-6D, 15 KO?s) is in the thick of preparations for his Thai opponent and knows he cannot afford another loss going into the March 26 fight card at the Ynares Gym in Angono, Rizal. He has used the surname of Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha in his recent bouts as a sign of respect and tribute to his sponsor who attends and co-promotes his fights here in the country.

Both Cuello and Samat, or Samartlek, fought tough Indonesian ex-IBF champ Muhamad Rachman. Samat beat Rachman on points last January while Cuello became the first man to score a TKO win over Rachman in September of last year in Iligan City.

Also appearing in the card will be stablemates Lionel Legada Singwangcha and Boy Dondee Pumar Singwangcha.

A title shot looms for Cuello Singwangcha and he could add more excitement to the Philippine boxing scene.
