Defending WBO World Champion Ana ?the Hurricane? Julaton (7W-2L-1D) makes her return in the ring front of her hometown this Friday, February 25th against first ranked contender Franchesca ?The Chosen One? Alcanter, (18W-9L-1D,5KO). This fight takes place at Craneway Pavillion in Richmond, California brought to you by Orion Sports Management, 37 Management and CP Presents.
Franchesca Alcanter who is also a fitness model goes down in weight from 126lbs to 122lbs for this WBO title fight against Ana Julaton. She has previously fought in the Featherweight and Super Featherweight divisions and has been in three title fights.
Alcanter, with 28 pro fights is the more experienced boxer has boxed 117 rounds compared to Julaton?s 69 rounds as a pro. In her last fight, Alcanter fought one of the toughest undefeated female boxers Ina Menzer from Germany, she went the distance and lost by unanimous decision. Alcanter has not had a boxing match in nearly 2 years, however she is also a MMA athlete and has previously trained with Coach Freddie Roach several years ago.
According to Julaton?s strength and conditioning trainer Lauro Doroliat, Julaton has not stopped training since after the Maria Villalobos fight from last summer which was held in Canada. Coach Freddie Roach has been coaching Julaton since the end of January and has intensified her training regiment. Many new methods and skills has been introduced to Julaton which she has not seen before. As a result, Julaton?s improved power and speed has impressed Coach Roach in training.
Ana Julaton had the opportunity to spar with former Champion Rodel Mayor at the Wildcard Gym and sources reported that no punches here held either way. The newly improved version of ?The Hurricance? gave former Champion Mayol more than a handful and even received a good beating from ?The Hurricane? during sparring.
Julaton?s manager Angelo Reyes commented that they had a very good press conference today where both ladies exercised mutual respect. They are as ready as can be heading into this fight. This writer recalls that one of the criteria Manger Reyes looks for in an opponent for Ana Julaton is someone who has fought undefeated Champion Ina Menzer. Julaton?s last two fights where difficult fights where she has been matched up with world class opponents with Maria Villalobos and Lisa Brown.
By their fight history, records and rankings in review, the Julaton vs Alcanter could be another tough fight for Julaton against a resilient challenger. However when did Ana Julaton ever have an easy fight lately? In front of her hometown fans who know Ana Julaton most, the best performance from ?The Hurricane? is within her grasps.
