Sta. Ynes, California:- ShoBox: The Next Generation promoted by Gary Shaw Productions held a good fight card at the Chumash Casino last Friday night. The seven fight card show which was carried live on TV was almost a full house with only a handful of seats remaining vacant.
In the co-main event, Freddie Roach-trained cruiserweight Lateeef Kayode of Nigeria who now makes Hollywood his home, retained NABF/NABO titles via unpopular UD over a rugged slugger from Tampa, Florida, Nicholas Iannuzzi.
Kayode who KO?d 14 of his last 15 opponents was given all he could take by Iannuzzi. Kayode for some reasons did not throw enough punches and at times was buzzed and out-worked by his determined opponent. Iannuzzi was given a point deduction by referee Raul Caiz for throwing a late punch after the final bell. Previous to that, Caiz Jr, has repeatedly told Inannuzzi to listen to his instructions. Many in the crowd did not agree with the decision and booed the unanimous decision scores of 98-91,97-92 and 95-94. With the win Kayode improved his record to 16-0-0, 14KO while Iannuzzi dropped to 16-2-0, 9K0.

In the main event of the evening former Cuban Olympian, Luis Franco (above, center) who now fights in the featherweight division had his hardest fight to date in his short 9-fight professional career. Franco was repeatedly tagged by his opponent, Leonilo Miranda of Sonora, Mexico but showed a tremendous fighting spirit by giving Miranda a dose of his own medicine. There were a lots of mid- ring exchanges from the two boxers entertaining the crowd to no end. In the end, Franco was declared the winner by split decision with the following scores: 96-94 for Miranda and 97-93 and 96-94 for Franco. Franco thus kept his record clean at 9-0-0, 5K0 while Miranda dropped to 32-3,0 30 KO.
The other fight results are as follows:

Junior Lightweight Rufino Serrano (above) (8-4-0, 0KO) of nearby Santa Maria won via unanimous decision over Jose Morales (6-3-0, 1KO) of Denver Colorado. The scores are 59-53, 60-54 and 59-53.
