Sergio Martinez did what he said he would- knock our Paul Williams when they meet again on top of the ring.

And how!

Martinez knocked out Williams with one huge punch reminiscent of the counter left hook Manny Pacquiao used to knock out Ricky Hatton.

Williams was totally out as soon as the punch hit and he fell like a log face first on the canvas.

Surprisingly, the referee still counted him out when it was so obvious that he will not get up. In fact, it took about 5 minutes before Williams got back on his feet.

The only saving grace was the fact that Williams later on readily admitted that he was hit by a good punch and he had no excuses.

Martinez for his part told Max Kellerman of HBO that he prepared for that scenario and he just delivered when he found it appropriate.

The big loss for Williams, for all intents and purposes, effectively eliminated his pursuit of Manny Pacquiao and the possible millions he can get from that fight.

It will also give Bernard Hopkins one less ?black fighter from the streets? who can possibly beat Pacquiao.

Martinez? victory allowed him to keep his title, the WBC Middleweight Crown and the spectacular knock-out he delivered could easily be the ?Knock-out? of the Year.
