Tagbilaran City - Genesis Servania of Bacolod City was the steadier boxer down the stretch and beat Alvin Maquiling of the Sajulga Stable of Bukidnon by unanimous decision in the main event of the ALA-Summit Fight Night Boxing Tour held Saturday night at the Island City Mall Car Park in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
It was initially a close battle between two up and coming superbantamweights with Servania?s accurate jab-straight combos countering Maquiling?s wide but powerful hooks. But Servania?s boxing skills made him pull away in the last three rounds.
The scorecards read 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93.
Ricky Sismundo of the Harada Stable overpowered Rufino Mante of Tagbilaran City and won by ten round unanimous decision. Sismundo wore the heavier ten ounce gloves for the fight because he exceeded the featherweight limit by three pounds but he still scored a knockdown in round eight.
Sismundo was penalized a point in the same round for a head butt that inflicted a gash above Mante?s right eyebrow. Sismundo?s hooks were the more telling blows of the bout.
The scores ? 97-91, 95-93 and 97-91.
Zaldy Aroa of Bantayan Island scored two knockdowns in round one but struggled the rest of the way against Anthony Galigao of the Harada Stable in their flyweight contest.
Galigao regained his bearings in rounds three and four as Aroa started to fade. Aroa was deducted a point for excessive holding in the 6th and final round but manged to hang on for a split decision win. The scorecards of two judges had it 57-54 for Aroa and one had 56-55 for Galigao.
Mini-flyweight Jade Yagahon of the Sajulga Stable won by 5th round TKO over a fast tiring Jefferson Reodeque of Tagbilaran City.
They took turns staggering each other until the referee stopped the fight to prevent an exhausted Reodeque from taking further punishment. Official time: 2:01.
Jomar Cordinillo of Tagbilaran City won by first round knockout over Roel Garcia of Butuan City in another mini-flyweight bout. The referee reached the ten count at the 1:41 mark.
Pedro Balaba of Tagbilaran City outmuscled and outhustled Jicky Gaco of Boljoon, Cebu enroute to a four round unanimous decision victory in their superflyweight fight. The scores ? 40-36, 39-37 and 39-37.
In the first pro bout of the evening, the taller Jece Cris Rosales of the Jimdomar Stable of Bohol gave Andelou Adajar of Butuan City a four round boxing lesson in their featherweight bout. The three judges ?scorecards all read 40-36.
Entertaining amateur contests opened the festivities.
In attendance was Bohol?s most famous boxer Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista who was one of those tasked to award medals to the winning amateur boxers. This event was supervised by Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza of GAB Cebu. This was offered free to the public and part of ALA Promotions and Summit Natural Drinking Water Boxing Tour.
