
Banal and Perez make weight (with photos)

Cebu City - AJ ?Bazooka? Banal and Luis ?El Demoledor? Perez easily made the prescribed weight during the offiicial weigh-in held Friday noon at SM Cebu City. They were supposed to weigh-in at 120 lbs for their highly anticipated ten round showdown but Perez (26W-4L, 17 KO's) checked in at 117 ? lbs while Banal (21W-1L-1D, 17 KO's) weighed 116 lbs. The taller Perez is expected to get bigger on fight night.
?Bakabakan na! Patayin natin!? Banal yelled to the crowd as he was interviewed by Ronnie Nathanielz who acted as master of ceremonies. Perez for his part said that he is ?ready to demolish Banal?.
Mark Jason Melligen (19W ? 2L, 1 KO's) weighed in at 151 lbs but Bladimir ?Vibora? Hernandez (18W-3L, 16 KO's) of Mexico weighed two pounds above the contracted 155 lb limit.
Hernandez was given an hour to shed the excess and returned weighing 153 lbs. Melligen predicted that his opponent will not go past five rounds.
Jason Pagara (23W- 1L, 11 KO's) of Cagayan de Oro tipped the scales at the exact 138 lb limit while Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat (20W-6L, 11 KO's) of Thailand weighed 135 lbs. Melligen vs Hernandez and Pagara vs Sor Sakaorat are also scheduled for ten rounds.
Superflyweights Larry ?Bon Jovi? Canillas (15W-2L, 1 KO's) of Toledo City weighed 122 lbs while Ramie Laput ( 38W-4L, 17 KO's) of the ABA Boxing gym of Davao weighed 120 lbs for their eight round bout.
For the other supporting bouts: the popular Jun ?The Flash? Entor (120 lbs)of Mabinay, Negros Oriental will fight Romano Gelig (118 ? lbs) of Bohol in a 4 rounder, up and coming flyweight Welbeth Loberanis (111 ? lbs)of Mandaue City will fight Joel Lagusan (111 lbs) of Leyte in 6 rounds.
Ryan Canillas (110 lbs) , the brother of Larry Canillas, will face Renie Sabanal (111 ? lbs) of Siaton, Negros Oriental (4 rounds) and Rey Melligen (133 lbs) ,brother of Mark, will fight Evelino Valleser (130 lbs) of Bohol (4 rounds).
The boxers also underwent the routine pre-fight physical examination. The weigh-in was supervised by Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board This boxing promotion dubbed as PINOY PRIDE is a presentation of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports. Fight day is October 30 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. The first bout starts at 6 PM.
