
Takayama wins IBF eliminator in South Africa

Katsunari Takayama (24W-4L, 10 KO?s) of Japan won by 6th round TKO over Tshepo Lefele (17W-4L, 11 KO?s) of South Africa at the Carnival City, Brakpan, Gauteng, South Africa. The fight was a 12 round IBF minimumweight title eliminator for a chance to fight IBF minimumweight champ Nkosinathi Joyi of South Africa.
Last May, Takayama was signed up by ALA Promotions of Cebu and was scheduled to fight in Mandaue City. But he injured his right wrist while jogging when he fell down trying to avoid an incoming vehicle.
ALA Promotions VP Dennis Canete relayed to result to philboxing. The 27 year old Takayama is a former WBC/WBA minimumweight champ and has set his sights on winning titles also in the IBF and WBO.
