Sibonga, Cebu - Undefeated superflyweight prospect Marco Demecillo Singwangcha of Cebu City had difficulty figuring out Joash Aparicio of the Sajulga stable of Cagayan de Oro City until a single lightning left hook ended the fight in the ninth round.

Aparicio employed stick and move tactics that befuddled Singwancha who still kept moving forward. In the early rounds, Aparicio bled from a cut on his left eyebrow due to an accidental headbutt and later on had a cut near his right ear which resulted in point deductions for Singwangcha.

The fighters exchanged vicious hooks as Demecillo Singwangcha closed the distance. In the fifth round, Singwangcha scored a knockdown but Aparicio immediately got up and continued to inflict his own brand of punishment. In the 8th, Aparicio once again effectively scored from a distance. It was still anybody?s fight at this stage until Singwangcha?s left hook slammed Aparicio down at ring center. The referee reached the ten count at 35 seconds of round 9.

In the supporting main event, Alvin Maquiling of Cagayan de Oro beat Jestoni Pepito Singwangcha of Cebu City by unanimous decision in a rough and bruising ten round superbantamweight contest. Maquiling had Pepito Singwangcha reeling on the ropes on several occasions. In the 8th Singwangcha?s right eye started to close as a hideous hematoma started to form.

Maquiling finished strong and landed cleaner blows in the last two rounds. The three judges? scorecards read 96-94 for Maquiling.

Bantamweight Marvin Tampus of Bato, Leyte needed only 32 seconds and a single shot to the body to stop Aljon Salugaol of Cebu in the opening round.

Flyweight Rex Tito Singwangcha of Manila won by TKO at 1:25 of the 4th round against Jerome Bontog of the Phil-Aust Gym of Mandaue City. Bontog was down in the 3rd and Tito Singwangcha put him out of his misery in the next round.

Flyweights Elmer Pono of the TI Yamagata Gym fought through a bloodied nose and earned a majority draw against JR Salvador of the Phil-Aust gym in 4 rounds. The scorecards read 39-37 for Salvador while two judges scored it 38-38.

In the evenings first pro bout, superflyweight Jerome Casas of Leyte beat Jomar Torion of the Phil-Aust Gym by majority decision after 4 rounds. The scores ? 39-38 and 39-37 for Casas and one judge had it 38-38.

Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha, who sponsors the Filipino boxers who bear his name, gave cash incentives to the winners. Golden trophies were also awarded to Demecillo and Maquiling. The professional boxing event was held at the Bonifacio Bacaltos Sports and Cultural Centrum in Sibonga, Cebu last Saturday and was promoted by Rex ?Wakee? Salud, Aljoe Jaro and Naris Singwangcha of Thailand. Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri was a special guest of the municipality headed by Mayor Lionel E. Bacaltos and Vice Mayor Rey Apuda.

Postscript:

The municipality of Sibonga is a couple of hours away by bus south of Cebu City. Philboxing would like to thank the local government of Sibonga for their hospitality and the boxing fans of the municipality for supporting the fight game.
