
PRO MUAY THAI HITS CEBU JULY 31

Cebu fight fans are in for a treat this July 31 when the first of a series of professional Muay Thai fight cards will stage their inaugural competition billed as ?EXTREME MUAYTHAI CHAMPIONSHIP: ART OF WAR?.
The main event will feature former Muaythai National Team member and 2007 Asian Muaythai Championship bronze medalist Eugene "El Torrero" Toquero fighting against MMA fighter and undefeated kickboxer Johnjier "The Dangerous Torbiso in the 57 kg division." The co-main event will also feature Joseph ?The Samurai? Eder of Cagayan de Oro City versus Gino ?The Projectile? Po in the 62 kg weight class.
Other supporting bouts are : Loloy Esfra vs Pablo ?The Predator? Santillan (61 kg), Imbo Estanel vs Junrey Soquete (63 kg), Ypanto Senyo vs John Edu Torbiso (48 kg), Jiody Arcenal vs Jonathan Nacua (54 kg) and Benjamin Capisnon vs Sammy Embalsado (53 kg).
Muay Thai rules require them to engage for five rounds of three minutes each with two minute resting intervals between rounds.
The organizers and officials for the past two days have been having an orientation seminar of the professional Muay thai rules and regulations at the Mae Krua Thai Restaurant in Cebu City with Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB ?Cebu).
Official weigh-in of the adversaries will be on Friday 11 AM at the Mango Square in Cebu City. Fight night on Saturday will be held in the same venue.
Lumpinee Muay Thai champion, "The Golden Leg" Ajarn Poodparnoi Worawoot from Thailand will be present during the event. He is an icon of the sport in Thailand. He is now retired but continues to teach Muay Thai. In his prime has won multiple titles in five weight divisions and known for his kicks and elbow attacks.
Muay Thai is a combat sport originating in Thailand and is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science of Eight Limbs" because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight "points of contact".
This event is staged by Muay Thai practitioner and mixed martial arts fighter Michael Arquillano and PJ Tormis of Arquillano Muaythai Promotions Inc. and Naris Singwancha Promotions of Thailand.
