It was a wet and wild Saturday night at the Gaisano Country Mall Car Park when Roli Gasca (W13 - L1, 1 KO) slipped and counterpunched his way to a unanimous decision win over PBF superbantamweight champ Jayson Egera (W12-L5, 5 KO?s) in their ten round non-title bantamweight bout.
Egera, a southpaw from Siaton, Negros Oriental was the bigger and stronger fighter and pressed Gasca from the opening bell. Gasca, who hails from Barili, Cebu, had trouble keeping Egera from landing his powerful hooks at the initial stage of the fight. In the 3rd round, a punch opened a cut on the corner of Egera?s left eyebrow.
Egera fought through blood but his attack was getting predictable. Gasca timed his counters well and as Egera missed more than he landed especially in the last three rounds. The scorecards read ? 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94 for Gasca.
The rains failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the boxers who battled toe to toe and the fans who stayed to witness a very entertaining night of boxing.
