Cebu fight fans will be treated to an exciting professional boxing card offered free to the public at the Gaisano Country Mall Car Park. In the main event, Roli Gasca (W12 - L1, 1 KO) of Barili,Cebu fights PBF superbantamweight champ Jayson Egera (W12-L4, 5 KO?s) of Siaton, Negros Oriental in a ten round non-title bantamweight bout.
The weigh-in of the adversaries was held Friday afternoon at the Games and Amusements Board (GAB ? Cebu) Office supervised by the dynamic duo of Celso Miranda and Rolando Mendoza.
Gasca easily made the 118 lb. limit but Egera had to spend a hour shedding an excess couple of pounds. This promises to be an interesting battle of contrasting styles as Gasca is known as a crafty boxer while Egera is a tested battler who can rise from the canvas to win a fight.
Last March, Egera recovered from a fourth round knockdown and rallied to win a 10 round unanimous decision over Gedion Amba for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation superbantamweight title in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. Last May, Gasca convincingly ouboxed Jessie Albaracin of Davao City for a unanimous decision win in Mandaue City.
There are six other bouts scheduled and the protagonists had no problem making the stipulated weight. Along ?Boholano Bulldog? Denoy of Candijay, Bohol will go up against Jason Geda of the Phil-Aust Gym of Mandaue City in an 8 round superflyweight contest. Geda is taking the place of Rogen Flores.
Superbantamweights Genesis Servania of Bacolod City versus Jestoni Pepito of Cebu City (8 rounds), Flyweights Jerson Mancio of Agusan del Sur versus Roger Echavez of DDP Stable, Butuan City (8 rounds), Lt. flyweights Gerpaul Valero of Phil-Aust Gym Mandaue City versus Sarry Canonigo of Sta. Cruz Stable of Talisay (6 rounds), Superbantamweights Jocel Gestopa of Consolacion, Cebu versus Memar Dula of Talisay (4 rounds), and mini-flyweights Joseph Demos of Dumaguete versus Marlon Sandoval of Siaton, Negros Oriental (4 rounds).
This event is presented by ALA Promotions in association with Summit Natural Drinking Water. Fight time is at 7 PM Saturday.
