Big Yoo of South Korea had no comment during the press conference held Thursday morning for his WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title fight against AJ ?Bazooka? Banal of the ALA Gym. Aside from saying that he loves the Philippines, Yoo (16W-2L, 11KO?s) indicated that he would rather do his talking in the ring.
Banal (21W-1L-1D, 17 KO?s) on the other hand said that he will try his best to knock his opponent out early. He has seen fight videos of Yoo and he said he can take him. ?Kayang kaya.? Banal said.
They will headline the ?SANDUGO ? Labanan ng mga Kampeon? fight card this July 17 at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Jason Pagara (18W-1L, 10 KO?s) of Cagayan de Oro will face another Korean, Young Bin Kim (11W-1L, 7 KO?s) in a ten round lightweight non-title fight. Young Bin is much taller than Pagara but the Korean describes himself as a powerful infighter.
Also seeing action are the ALA Gym?s James Bacon who will face Eric Macas of Lanao del Norte, Ricky Sismundo of Ubay, Bohol versus Jovie Merca of Butuan City, Jefferson Reodeque of Tagbilaran City, Bohol versus Rocky Bacor of Butuan City, Jomar Cordinillo of Tagbilaran City versus Charlie Vere of Lanao del Norte and Wilbeth Loberanis of Tagbilaran City versus Jolito Catubay of Cebu City.
Candijay?s favourite son Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista will have an exhibition sparring session against Fernando Otik.
The presscon was held at the Activity Center of the Island City Mall in Tagbilaran. Attending the event were Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer, ALA Gym trainer Edmund Villamor, and Korean trainer Yeon Jip Kim. Z ?The Dream? Gorres and his wife Datches were in the audience.
ABS-CBN will show the fight the next day Sunday morning. Mayor Lim is offering the fight to the people of Tagbilaran as this is subsidized by the city government.
