EDEN SONSONA SHOULD GET A REMATCH WITH OQUENDO

Eden Sonsona as per the records lost via a 9th round TKO to Jonathan Oquendo. That much we can not deny.

But Sonsona said he did not lose fair and square. Therefore, he feels it?s only right if he gets a rematch to see who is truly the better fighter between the two.

Qquendo must have felt the heavy artillery coming from Sonsona early in the fight and decided his only chance to win was to do something drastic to level the field.

But instead of summing up his skills and strength to overcome those of Sonsona, he resorted to dirty tactics.

He threw low blows. Three low blows in fact!

Where those low blows deliberate, or accidental? Only Oquendo knows!

Then there were head butts too. Not just run-of-the-mill head butt, but really hard and debilitating.

The dirty tactics indeed produced an advantage for Oquendo. Sonsona said the terrible pain from the low blows sapped his energy and that made him lose his focus. Thus, in the process, he lost the fight.

?Napakasakit talaga doc,? Sonsona told this writer when he visited my office Monday afternoon. ?Hanggang ngayon masakit pa, pero tinitiis ko na lang.? ( It really hurt and it still hurts up to now but I am just trying to endure it)

The head butt was so strong that it fractured the provisional bridge we made for Sonsona prior to the fight he had in Texas on the Pacquiao-Clottey undercard. We were suppose to make him a permanent bridge after that fight but somehow that did not happen as Sonsona had to go home.

In the meantime he continued to use a provisional bridge designed to last just for the fight at Texas, thus the bridge weakened and fractured when he was hit with a solid head butt. We were glad that we designed his mouthguard aimed to dissipate the forces from being hit with a punch in a certain way. Had we not done that, with the force of the head but from Oquendo,
Sonsona?s natural teeth would have been damaged as well. They were not and x-rays verified that.

Since Sonsona is due to go home on Thursday, time will not permit us to make him a fixed bridge, thus another provisional was made with the understanding that when he comes back to LA, the first order of business will be to make him that long delayed restoration.

Sonsona is hoping that a re-match could be arranged and at a neutral site. ?If we meet the next time, I hope he will fight me fair and square. Then we will really see if he is
worthy of being called the NABO champion,? Sonsona stated

Amen to that.
