Randy ?Komong Bato? Suico of Cebu will defend his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) light welterweight title this July 20 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan against OPBF number one contender Motoki Sasaki of Japan.
Suico (29W-5L-1D, 25 KO?s) won the vacant title last May via fifth round TKO over Kyung-Suk Kwak in South Korea. He previously held the OPBF superfeatherweight and lightweight belts.
The 30 year old Suico, together with trainer Juanito Ablaca, went to the ALA Gym last Saturday afternoon to look for sparring partners within his weight range. He had a torrid sparring session and exchanged heavy bombs with Jason Pagara and James Bacon.
The 34 year old Sasaki (33W-8L-1D, 21 KO?s) won the OPBF welterweight title in 2008 from Rev Santillan of Iloilo by 6th round TKO. He would stop Santillan again in a rematch then beat another Filipino, Dexter Delada by 7th round technical decision. Sasaki would challenge for the WBA world welterweight title and lose by unanimous decision to Vyacheslav Senchenko last year.
Suico once fought for the WBA world lightweight title in 2006 and lost by 9th round TKO to Juan Diaz.
