THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM AT QUERETARO

San Juan del Rio, Queretaro, Mexico: Rodel Mayol had a hefty dinner early last night and a couple of hours rest and exchange of banter with the Team, he hit the sack and had a good long sleep.

?He slept like a log,? said his wife Lira.

Today Mayol stepped on the scales and was very pleased with his weight. His fight night weight tonight will surely be a lot more than what he had the last time he fought Nino Romero.

Surely, Mayol rehydrated well and good, thanks to the close supervision of trainer Jesse Arevalo and the loving care and attention to details in his nutrition his wife Lira has given him. The food cooked by trainer assistant Moray Quijano and Rod Mayol helped a lot too.

?I feel very strong and I am excited to fight tonight,? Mayol said as the team shared with him a hefty 'Filipino-style breakfast' complete with piping hot rice, chicken adobo and vegetable-laden chicken soup spiked with fresh malunggay leaves.

After breakfast, the Team visited a nearby church to offer prayers and ask for protection and blessing from the Lord. After prayers, a priest in the local church blessed the whole team and Mayol?s fight outfit. They also had a short tour of the 'Centro', the town center in San Juan del Rio.

From there, they headed back to the hotel for lunch and to just basically hang-out and rest until it?s time to head tonight to the Plaze de Toros, the fight venue.

Incidentally, Team Mayol was provided with a large SUV and a driver/tour guide for its exclusive use courtesy of Zanfer Promotions.
