Rocky Fuentes Defends OPBF Crown June 5

Rocky Fuentes of the ALA Gym of Cebu will make the first title defense of the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Flyweight title this June 5 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo against Shigetaka Ikehara of Yokohama,Japan. The 24 year old Fuentes (25W-6L-2D, 15 KO's) won the title by beating Masafumi Okubo of Japan last March 9 by majority decision in a fight held at the same venue.
ALA Promotions Pres. Michael Aldeguer informed that Team Rocky is already in Tokyo . Fuentes left Cebu Wednesday with trainer Edito Villamor and Joseph Baldago.
The 28 year old Ikehara (20W-1L-2D, 16 KO's) has never fought outside of Japan. In 2007, he knocked out Filipino Gilbert dela Torre in two rounds. Last year, Ikehara fought for the Japanese flyweight title but settled for a draw against Tomonobu Shimizu.
Fuentes hails from Mambaling, Cebu City and is one of the rising prospects of the ALA Gym. He has won five times since the 2007 split decision loss to Richie Mepranum.
